VECCHIO CANYON
Vecchio Canyon is located in the heart of the Corsican mountains, in Corte. It is a canyoning with beautiful jumps possible in large ponds of limpid water. The access is difficult, but it remains wild; one of the rare canyons where you don’t meet anyone.
DESCRIPTION OF THE VECCHIO CANYON
It is one of the most aquatic canyons in Corsica. The Vecchio has its source in the heart of the Corsican mountains and is joined by several tributaries. It therefore has a good flow.
Vecchio canyon is characterised by large, wide and deep ponds. In the middle of the canyon, there is even a reach of a hundred metres to cross.
The specificity of this Corsican canyon really are the jumps. In each pond, there are possible jumps, from 2 to 10 metres high.
Of course, jumps in canyoning are never compulsory.
Everyone chooses their own jump height and limits. And for those who are looking for strong sensations, the transparency of the water makes the jumps look really impressive!
And for the more contemplative, the huge granite blocks that punctuate the descent of the Vecchio canyon give you the impression of walking on the moon.
LEVEL - SPORT CANYONING
Vecchio canyon requires a good physical condition because the walk to enter and exit the canyoning is long. The access path is not easy. It is steep and with rocks. The way back is not difficult but it is craggy. After a lot of hard work in the canyon, it is not always easy. The canyon itself is a lot of fun. Large ponds where you can float in the sun, jumps of different heights and some slides. The picnic break at lunchtime is a good opportunity to rest. Thanks to its difficult access, the Vecchio canyon remains one of the wildest in Corsica. Even in August, you won’t see anyone there. PERIOD - WATERY CHARACTERISTIC OF CANYONING
Very aquatic, the Vecchio canyon is open from July onwards and remains in water all summer.
In spring, with the melting of the snow, the flow of the Vecchio is too important to be canyoned.

It is mandatory to know how to swim. You must declare any health problem, medical history, occasional or long term treatment, accident, likely to affect your physical or psychological health, as well as any particular apprehension (vertigo, medical history, fears…).

A swimming costume, a pair of socks, cereal bars, dried fruit, a bottle of water, a compact and wekk-packed picnic. Special canyoning shoes are always provided free of charge by Altipiani, and have been for the past 20 years.
