We wanted to experience and share an adventure in a different way, and that’s why we’re meeting in Corte.
You’ll be taking part in the only ‘canyon bike’ in Corsica, with the chance to share a Spuntinu Corse*.
After collecting your equipment for the descent of the Petra Leccia canyon, you’ll hop on your electric bikes**.
We leave Corte on a narrow road that takes us to Castirla. Ask the guide to show you the cave where the Arrighi bandit hid in the last century, but was never caught. The descent continues, and at Ponte Castirla we cross the Devil’s Bridge, built by the Devil in one night. However, it could simply be an old bridge built by the Genoese.
We then enter the Scala di Santa Regina gorge.
It took 40 years to build the stretch of road that leads to Porto. After a few kilometres, we take an old road that crosses the Golo for the second time. Then it’s a short climb through a forest of Laricio pines and holm oaks to the ‘bike park’.
Second adventure: an approach walk along an old forest path. The Petra Leccia canyon (Petra for stone and Leccia for holm oak) can begin: jumps, majestic and magical slides, abseils and all in cool water. After our arrival, a Spuntinu (Corsican snack) awaits us before we set off on the return journey on our electric bikes. It was a busy day, but we didn’t get to dance at the village ball, so we slept with stars in our eyes.
*The Spuntinu Corse (traditional Corsican snack) is prepared with organic and local produce. Price: €18 per person.
** The price of the Petra Leccia canyon includes bike hire and supervision.
A superb canyon with pools, jumps and slides in a wild environment.
A fun and technical canyon, the descent of the Petra-Leccia canyon is a great introduction to rope climbing and abseiling. The route is punctuated by endless jumps and slides.
The magic of the Petra Leccia canyon is its ‘replay’ touch: for the more adventurous, a big jump and its famous slides of over 10 or 15 metres can be done over and over again.
For the less adventurous, the guide will help you through the most difficult passages, those that are almost scary. We’re forgetting the main thing – we’ll be a small group, 6 or 7 people maximum, with me accompanying you.
The Petra-Leccia canyon doesn’t require you to have any technical skills beforehand: we’ll teach you how to abseil using a rope. It’s not rocket science, you just need to be a bit sporty. And the instructor is there to reassure and help you.
Abseiling is compulsory.
As in all our canyons, jumps and slides are optional.
Ideal canyon in spring: The water level is perfect in May and June, even for those who are cold (especially those who are cold!), who can always bask in the sun on a rock.
In summer, when the water level is low, the Petra Leccia canyon becomes a small stream, losing its interest.
You’d like to book a descent of the La Petra Leccia ‘canyon-bike’. A small group is waiting for you. If you’re interested in the Spuntinu (snack), don’t forget to book it. Cheese, cold meats, desert, beer – a great classic prepared with local and organic produce.
