For a number of years, we’ve been exploring the Petit Vecchio family canyon. Bigoud opened the Petit Vecchio a long time ago. Other agencies came along, so we decided to look for a canyon that we could share more intimately with you.
So here we are, off on new adventures with Agnès. Of course, this wasn’t our first ‘try’: after the Verghellu canyon, the Altipiani climbing cliff and the via cordata Restonica.
At last, we’ve found the ideal playground for your little ones to experience new adventures, while keeping the older member of the family happy.
We’ve equipped the Capelli canyon. It owes its name to the mountain above the canyon, Mont Capelli, which means ‘hair’ in Corsican… this little name should have made us realise that there could sometimes be ‘a hair on the soup’. After a few years, our tranquillity is once again slightly disturbed. A long time ago, while watching a flock of sheep, I noticed a young male sticking his head under the fence. When I saw him, I realised that the grass is always greener elsewhere.
As with the Verghellu canyon, ‘someone else’ has also been working on the Capelli since 2023.
In 2024, we further improved the descent of the Capelli canyon by equipping a new passage, which benefits everyone 😊

As we read and listen to all your thanks, but above all the joy you express after this family adventure, we realise that happiness can be in the meadow, but it’s also in the Capelli canyon.
Description of the Capelli Canyon
Your children will dazzle you as they outdo themselves in this canyon: they’ll jump, do mini-toboggans and even ‘swim’ through large, peaceful pools.
The jumps start low in the water and are a maximum of 3 to 4 metres long.
There are short abseils, including a 4-metre abseil in an eggshell. The instructor is at the top, with a mum or dad at the bottom to reassure the children.
Of course, nothing is compulsory.

The Capelli canyon does not require any technical skills in advance. As with all our canyons, jumps and slides are optional. The only requirement is that you’re in a good mood.
Period - the aquatic nature of canyoning
A canyon in full sunshine, the water is so pleasant that children find it hard to get out.
This Corsican canyon is located in the heart of the mountains, so it maintains a good water level throughout the summer.

Meeting point for the Capelli & Verghellu canyon
Coming from Corte or Aleria, follow the signs for Ajaccio. About 4.8km after the village of Venaco, leave the T20 on your left before the new Vecchio bridge.
Coming from Ajaccio, after passing through the village of Vivario, continue towards Corte. The car park is 200m after crossing the Vecchio bridge.

A pair of socks.
Cereal bars and dried fruit.
A bottle of water.
A long-sleeved T-shirt, preferably for the approach walk.
Suncream should be avoided in the canyons, as the fish will thank you and a neoprene wetsuit will be totally useless.
Smoking is strictly forbidden in the valley, and you could be fined.
Special canyon shoes have been supplied free of charge by Altipiani for 20 years.
