GUIDES TO MAKE YOU HAPPY
THE CANYONS OF CENTRAL CORSICA, CORTE
WITH THE ALTIPIANI GUIDES
In 2000, Altipiani opened a booking office for mountain sports in the centre of Corte. Altipiani offers canyoning, climbing, hiking and bike rental.
Altipiani’s mountain office has gradually evolved into a shop for mountain sports, climbing, hiking, mountaineering, canyoning and electric bikes.
Today, Altipiani offers both equipment and clothing for your outdoor activities, and an office to book your sports activities during your holidays in Corsica.
The team of mountain guides who look after you has not changed much since its creation. They are there for you, with the aim of exploring the canyon in complete serenity. They take care of making the canyoning descent fun, while keeping an eye on your safety.
So they are canyoning guides with a lot of experience and wisdom who take care of you… All this to say that the small team of Altipiani guides tends to have grey hair!
Agnès, canyoning, climbing and hiking instructor
Passionate about nature and in love with Corsica, Agnès, a mountain professional, created the Altipiani agency in 2000. Mountain guide, climbing and canyoning instructor, she will be your main contact for the preparation and organisation of your stays. In season, you will also find her on the ground, on foot, on a cliff or in a canyon. Her university education in Mediterranean ecology will enable her to answer almost all your questions about the natural environment of Corsica but also about Corsican history and culture. Agnès loves her job as a guide and always takes great pleasure in helping you discover the varied landscapes of Corsica.
Yannick, canyoning and climbing instructor
Yannick, 41 years old, I was born in Marseille and it was in the Calanques that I started climbing and caught the virus of the vertical element.
Not being a schoolboy, I turned to a state diploma in climbing and canyoning. That’s where I met Agnès who suggested I come and spend one of my first seasons in Corsica, 19 years ago already… An idyllic setting, I really enjoyed it.
I then settled in the Verdon gorges, attracted by the large cliffs for climbing.
For about fifteen years, I lived to the rhythm of the canyon and climbing seasons, and then turned to rope work sites where I found verticality.
Wishing to take a break from this life of workcamps, I left my job. It is said that chance does not exist: 2 days after I quit my job and 20 years later, Agnès contacted me again because she was looking for someone…
Here we go again for a new adventure….
Antoine, canyoning instructor
Unbelievable, Antoine is the oldest instructor in Altipiani. Yet he is the only one who will do all the demonstrations of jumps and slides… He is in amazing shape!
He also knows how to walk at donkey pace, to allow everyone to reach the start of the canyon without forcing. If you ask him, he can even bray as well as a Corsican donkey.
With Antoine, it’s cool in the canyon but strict on safety.
Cédric, canyoning and climbing instructor
I have taught climbing in the biggest club in France, Chambery Escalade, for 15 years.
Passionate about canyoning, I have practised this discipline in Spain, Italy and France, particularly on the islands, in Reunion and for the last 16 years in Corsica.
Gégé, canyoning instructor
My name is Gérard, I’m 66 years old and I’m retired but I continue to practice my liberal activities, both in winter and in summer.
During my former working life, I practised many outdoor activities, particularly canyoning in Isère and Provence-Côte d’Azur.
I also had the opportunity to practice in Corsica for several years and this summer activity really took its meaning.
The particularity of this island, its exceptional and protected nature, its magnificently clear and fresh waters, gave me the virus.
This is why, every summer, I want to help others discover and share with them, in exchange for a little physical effort, these small hidden but striking jewels that Corsica offers us.
